CKR Services are proud to offer External Temporary Storage Facility (ETSF) services. An ETSF (previously known as an ERTS) comes with multiple benefits but having to be licenced to do so and have premises in approved locations, makes these types of facilities less common than your standard warehouse.
What is an ETSF?
An ETSF is a temporary storage facility where non-union goods can be stored before being subjected to a customs procedure or being re-exported. To be an ETSF, the premises must be located inside or outside an approved area of sea or airport and be fully approved by Border Force. Any goods stored in an ETSF must however only be held there for a maximum of 90 days as it is only temporary storage.
What are the benefits of using an ETSF?
For a client looking to import their goods into or via the UK, there are multiple benefits to using an ETSF.
· Payment of duty and taxes on the imported goods will be deferred until the goods are assigned to a customs approved process
· A cheaper alternative to port rent charges
· Gives you time to obtain and collate imports licences and any documentation required before having to complete a full customs declaration
· Mitigates any unnecessary delays whilst customs checks and declarations are being made
